The Heartbreak of Justice

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Yesterday at 12:40 pm, Mother and I attended an almost-private screening of the film ‘Marshall’; about the early-career of Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall. It was ‘almost-private’ because only one other person was in the 44-seat theater... PEOPLE, go see this movie!

Inspired in his purpose to help others, Mr. Marshall chose to champion the law as a tool for equality. What’s more, against threats to life and livelihood, Mr. Marshall continued the good fight his entire career, and has as his legacy a scholarship fund to assist with the educational aspirations of young people today... Again, go see this movie. Be inspired to continue whatever it is you’re fighting for!

I have been blessed with a season of great success and heartbreak. And in this season, I’ve been able to bear witness to the great gift that people are to each other. You all walk around with your “feelings on your sleeves,” showing emotional empathy and compassion for others. What you’re really doing is imparting mercy to those in your path. The whole world needs it right now. And, I can’t tell you what an infectious blessing it is to show others that you hear them and care for them. Practice it daily, and don’t ever change... In this season, I am grateful for your thoughtful expressions in celebration of the day I started to walk in my purpose. Your collective light has moved me to glory. Tremendous thanks!
